THE RESOURCE

This resource aims to document and show the variation in the current heritage lexicon within the original territory of the Galician and Portuguese languages. To this end, it offers information collected in an atlas that enables the study of the distribution of denominational variants corresponding to a selection of concepts.

The area considered is constituted by the Galician and Portuguese municipalities that are part of the Galicia-North Portugal Euroregion and by the Galician-speaking border municipalities of Asturias and Castile and León.

The data come from different works that compile Galician and Portuguese dialectal vocabulary: dictionaries and small vocabularies, linguistic atlases, ethnographic works, academic works, lexical compilations made in educational centres, etc. They are all works that compile information provided by native speakers, obtained in field work and with geographical reference.
