idleness

- noun
- desocupación

EN This has its advantages as well as its drawbacks, and accounts for the considerable amount of work done on a small scale: pottery, lace, spinning, weaving (on primitive hand-looms), sabot-making, boat-building --wherever the soil is barren the Galician devises some industry to keep his hands from idleness and his body from starvation.

- ociosidade

EN He told some amusing plantation experiences, recollections of old Iberville and his youth, when he hunted possum in company with some friendly darky; thrashed the pecan trees, shot the grosbec, and roamed the woods and fields in mischievous idleness.
