Descrición:

The project Patrimonio léxico da Gallaecia (Gallaecia Lexical Heritage) stems from the interest in studying linguistic variation in the territory historically identified with Gallaecia, which is considered to be the space where the Galicia-Portuguese linguistic area was born. The main aim of the project is documenting and analysing linguistic variation in this area, in the lexical fields associated with cultural heritage. The project, coordinated by the Instituto da Lingua Galega of the University of Santiago de Compostela, integrates researchers from academic centers from the North of Portugal.

 The project also aims to:

  • Compile a catalogue of works that contain heritage terms.
  • Process lexical materials in order to integrate them into a searchable database.
  • Engage in the study of lexical variation within Gallaecia from different perspectives.
  • Promote and advise on initiatives that aim to propagate and disseminate the traditional lexicon.
  • Divulge to the scientific community the results of the research carried out.

This project is part of Patrimonio cultural da Eurorrexión Galicia-Norte de Portugal: valoración e innovación (GEOARPAD, pilot 4), a cross-border project within the framework of the INTERREG V-A Spain-Portugal programme (POCTEP), aimed at studying and valorising the cultural heritage of the Galicia-North of Portugal Euro-region.
