Estela Fidalgo Garra

I graduated in 2020 in Galician Language and Literature from the University of Santiago de Compostela, and in 2021, I finished a Master's Degree in Teaching Compulsory Secondary Education, Vocational Training and Language Teaching from the same university.

 

In 2021, I obtained a Research Initiation Grant for Master's Students from Banco Santander and I am currently a beneficiary of a pre-doctoral contract from the Xunta de Galicia. Thus, I am working on my doctoral thesis (Des)cortesía e cambio cultural: o piropo, under the supervision of Elisa Fernández Rei. It is a pragmalinguistic study on the concept of piropo from the theory of (dis)politeness in the context of contemporary Galicia. Among the main objectives of the research are to carry out a delimitation and characterization of the term itself in comparison with other evaluative acts and to make a theoretical contribution about its communicative function and its potential threat to the face in interaction.
