Miguel Guisantes Alonso

Miguel Guisantes Alonso (A Guarda, 1991) graduated in Galician Language and Literature from the University of Santiago de Compostela (2018). He studied the Interuniversity Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics at the same university (2019) and the Master's Degree in Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and Language Teaching at the University of A Coruña (2020).

At the ILG he is working on his thesis project Identidade e cambio lingüístico na mocidade (Identity and language change in the youth), under the supervision of Elisa Fernández Rei, which is part of the project Contacto, cambio lingüístico e ideoloxía en contextos de minorización lingüística (Contact, linguistic change and ideology in contexts of linguistic minoritization).

This research addresses, in a context of increasing linguistic contact in today's globalized world, how Galician youth use their available linguistic repertoires for the construction of their identity in communicative interactions, considering that the choice of language (or languages) is largely conditioned by the linguistic ideologies of the speakers.
