Annette Klosa's academic journey and professional course reflect her expertise and commitment to German linguistics and lexicography. She pursued her education, studying German language and literature, history, and pre- and early history in Bamberg, Mainz, and Munich from 1985 to 1991. Her master's thesis, titled "Formenmischung starker und schwacher Verben als Normproblem im neueren Deutsch," showcased her early focus on linguistic norms in contemporary German. After completing her master's, Klosa worked as an editorial assistant at Ceres-Verlag R. A. Oetker in Bielefeld. Subsequently, from 1992 to 1995, she earned her doctorate in German linguistics at the University of Bamberg, focusing on "Negierende Lehnpräfixe des Gegenwartsdeutschen" for her dissertation. During this period, she also contributed to her university as a lecturer in German as a foreign language and German studies. Additionally, she served in the Press and Public Relations Department at the University of Bamberg, where she contributed articles to the university newspaper. Her career path then led her to the Duden editorial office in Mannheim in 1996, where she became a member of the Academic Council. After leaving this position in 2001, she joined the Institute for the German Language as a research assistant, overseeing the "elexiko" project, an online lexicon of public language use. Annette Klosa's international engagement took her to Vietnam from September 1, 2015, where she headed the information center of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Ho Chi Minh City for two years. Simultaneously, she worked as a lecturer in the German department of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Vietnamese National University in Ho Chi Minh City. Notably, she had previously taught outside Germany in 1996 and 2001 as a Visiting Assistant Professor for German at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. In the years 2017-2021, Klosa took on the role of heading the "New Vocabulary" project and in 2020/2021, she led the "Vocabulary in Interaction" project. Since 2019, she has been at the helm of the "Lexicography and Language Documentation" program area, showcasing her enduring dedication to advancing the field. Annette Klosa's rich and varied experiences underscore her significant contributions to the realms of German linguistics, lexicography, and language documentation.
Annette Klosa has played a crucial role in various committees and editorial positions, showcasing her substantial impact on the field of linguistics and lexicography. Serving as the Spokesperson of the Staff Committee and a member of the IDS Executive Board from 2011 to 2015, she has demonstrated a commitment to organizational leadership. As a series editor, she contributed significantly to "OPAL - Online published works on linguistics" from 2011 to 2015 and "amades - Arbeiten und Materialien zur deutschen Sprache" from issue no. 57 onwards, collaborating with respected colleagues. Her leadership extends to heading the Lexicography section and being a member of the advisory board of the "Gesellschaft für Angewandte Linguistik e. V." from 2014 to 2021. Her organizational prowess is evident in her role as the main organizer of the XX EURALEX International Congress held in Mannheim from July 12 to 16, 2022. She has been a member of the Program Committee of the EURALEX Conference since 2020, the Scientific Committee of the eLex conferences since 2013, the EURALEX conferences since 2014, and the GLOBALEX workshops since 2018, emphasizing her dedication to advancing the field. She also served as the coordinator of the DFG-funded academic network "Internet Lexicography" from 2011 to 2015. Klosa has also been an active member of the "Scientific Advisory Commission" for the "Algemeen Nederlands Woordenboek" since 2010 and has served as a reviewer for journals such as "Neologica," "RiCognizioni - Rivista di Lingua e Letteratura Stranieri e Culture Moderni," and "International Journal of Lexicography." In addition to her organizational roles, Annette Klosa is a lecturer on the Erasmus Mundus course "EMLex - European Master of Lexicography." Additionally, Klosa has been a member of the Extended Executive Board of the IDS since 2019. In 2022, Annette Klosa assumed the role of President of EURALEX / European Association for Lexicography, showcasing her leadership within the academic community.
